Komplete have the most features (synth editing and sample editing wise). Reason got the better workflow (sequencer built in browser, more bread and butter type of sounds.). I'd say its a contest against features vs. Much of Reason's deep stuff is fairly easy to visualize because of well thought out interfaces, and as a result you can learn a Reason synth much faster. Reason can get technical as well but nowhere as dense as Reaktor. NI synths are waay more technical than Reason's stuff in hence you will really need to study them to get the most out of them. I'd say for ultimate sound design Komplete would be the best, but that comes with a price. Then as someone said, Reason got a sequencer, drum machine (although Reaktor got a VST version of Redrum I think but Reaktor's stuff isn't nowhere as intuitive as Reason). As a downside the refill libraries aren't always as "cutting edge" as what you will get with Kontakt expansions, but the propellerheads expansions like Abbey Roads are top notch and actually competes with some of Kontakts stuff. I'd also say Reason is a little more catered to the hip hop market, you will find plenty of good hip hop drum kits, 808s (If you download Propellerheads free Rebirth Refill), good subbasses, even sound effects.Įxpanding Reason is also more cost effective, since plenty of Refill libraries are less than $100.

Overall I think Komplete's sound quality is much better, but Reason has more bread and butter type of sounds. I think Komplete's library is larger though but without Kore, Komplete's library is all over the place and not as organized as Reason's (but as for free sounds, Reason is probably the program with the most free sounds, so if you download all of those, you will have a pretty big library). Wow, I didn't realize Reason was that big!!
